What we collect

• Account: your email address and password. Your password is hashed by our authentication provider — Bench itself never sees or stores it in plain text.
• Profile: your display name, and optionally a job title and profile picture.
• Content you create: papers you share, verification reports, comments, reactions, and any files you attach.

Why we collect it

To run your account, show who reported or verified what in Publications, and send you the emails Bench needs to send — a signup confirmation, a password reset, and nothing else. We don't send marketing email.

Who we share it with

Three infrastructure providers, and no one else — no ad networks, no analytics trackers, no data sold to anyone:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage, hosted in the EU (Ireland).
• Vercel — hosts the Bench website itself.
• Resend — sends the confirmation and password-reset emails your account needs.

Cookies

One. A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It isn't a tracking or marketing cookie, and we don't use any of those.

Publications and sharing

Papers, verification reports, and comments you post in Publications are visible to your group — not the open internet. Bench's access model is still evolving as the group system matures; this page will be updated if that changes in a way that affects who can see your content.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. Bench doesn't yet have a self-serve "delete my account" button — that's a known gap, not a hidden one. Until it exists, get in touch with the Bench team to request deletion, and we'll action it directly.

Your rights

You can review and correct your own profile information any time from Account settings. You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, by getting in touch with the Bench team.

Changes to this policy

Bench is early and still changing. If how we handle your data changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and its date at the top.
